Choice of materials for outdoor
The materials and finishes that we use in our homes require cleaning and maintenance from time to time, we dust, vacuum, MOP-N-Glo to keep them in good condition and long term. Without much effort, we can stay ahead the erosion of our children and our pets.
Materials on the outside, but are beaten every day of sun, Wind, rain, temperature changes, and other environmental elements (as well as children and dogs). Materials should be much more care and maintenance, but can be reduced somewhat by the choice of materials appropriate to achieve their goals.
terraces are subject to much abuse – the deck surface is particularly sensitive to sun and rain. Wood is the most popular area for bridges, but it is also faster to perform. Fortunately, there are a variety of products available surface cover that allow you to choose between appearance, the cost and effort required to keep your deck looking beautiful for many years.
Natural Wood platform
Natural wood is the obvious choice at first for the bridges. It is sturdy, attractive, easy to work, and comes in a variety of types with qualities different costs.
include pressure-treated wood is by far the most popular area now covered. Most timber PT is made of yellow pine, impregnated with ACQ, a chemical that increases the resistance of wood to rot and insects. But the wood is often treated worst quality materials such as wood shrinks, cracks and fractures more easily.
A better option for "decks Real wood "is one of the many forests that have natural resistance to rot and insects. These forests are the Western Red Cedar, Redwood, and some tropical hardwood species. Although these high quality decking materials last longer and look better also more expensive. One of the best surfaces Bridge is a very natural group of South American hardwood called Ipe ("Ipe" is Portuguese for hardwood). They are extremely dense, grained wood, dark and virtually free of knots. Ipe is very hard, heavy and difficult to work, but also very beautiful and almost indestructible. Expect to pay a high price for materials and labor for the installation of the IPE.
The use of any type of natural wood surfaces comes with a negative impact on the environment. When pressure treated decking is removed, the chemicals used to treat the wood can seep into groundwater, burn, you have these substances in the air. And while the new ACQ treatment is less toxic than previous CCA (which contains arsenic) of long-term effects of the chemical is not fully known.
Much of tropical timber used for flooring is plantations, but some do not, and at the retail level is that it is almost impossible to detect difference. Most people do not want their bridges built at the expense of an acre of rainforest.
Wood Platform composite
Wood decking is composed become very popular recently because of their longevity and ecological characteristics. It is a good imitation of natural wood on the viability and appearance.
Sold under names such as Trex, TimberTech and CorrectDeck, boards composite deck is manufactured from recycled plastic (usually grocery bags or bottles of milk) and waste wood ground-up. It can be cut and attached real wood and requires virtually no maintenance. Composite decking imitates the look of natural wood, but varies appearance and performance depending on the manufacturer and the ratio of plastic to wood in the mixture, usually about 50-60% of wood products.
Although Composite decking can be stained or painted natural wood, many manufacturers produce boards in different colors. Since the color is all the equipment chips and abrasions do not need refilling to maintain a uniform appearance. And for the content of high timber, the time without color panels composed of a beautiful silvery gray.
As with any area of terraces, the method of fastening composite decking structure improves or reduce the appearance of the roof. Improper installation may even affect the structural integrity of the tables. Ideally, all decking must be installed with hidden fasteners – a greater effort and expenditure, but the result is a better player and cover sustainable.
It terraces are some other options – fiberglass (FRP), for example, but are much less "traditional" composite decking natural wood or wood. All products plastic apron and aluminum also require the use of a large number of caps, closures and other specialized services held parts and parts which can be harmful to the overall appearance of the roof.
Your choice of cover depends on the aspect desired, budget and tolerance for the necessary maintenance of various materials. A good balance of these features should lead to a coverage area that the whole family can enjoy for years – children, dogs and all.
